Dr. Swapna Purandare is a Ramanujan Fellow in the department of Computational Biology at IIIT-Delhi. She completed her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences (Ecology, Evolution, Behavior) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA in 2014. She also did her M.S. from the School of Biological Sciences, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her primary research areas are evolutionary ecology and biodiversity conservation. She uses bioinformatics, next generation sequencing technology, analysis tools, and molecular methods in her research. In collaboration with IIIT-Delhi faculty and students, she is developing novel technological approaches based on UAVs, harmonic radar, network analysis, network modeling, computer vision, and machine learning to improve data collection, processing, and analysis, required for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability.
